I paint koi in honor of the old Japanese legend.

The koi swims against the current, past obstacles, past doubt, past everything telling it to turn back. It’s grit, perseverance and undying belief in itself to make it to the top is what proves that anything is possible.

To me, it’s a reminder that strength isn’t a matter of muscle, its mindset. It’s choosing to keep going when it would be easier to stop.

Every koi I paint holds that quiet determination—the kind that turns ordinary into extraordinary, and a reminder to never give up on your dreams.
